Q:
What is Chiropractic?
A: Chiropractic the third largest branch of the healing
arts, next to medicine and dentistry. Chiropractic as
we know it today has was conceived in 1895 in Davenport,
Iowa by Daniel David Palmer. Earlier forms of Chiropractic
medicine have been around for thousands of years as
an ancient chinese art. Chiropractic is concerned with
the nervous system and how it affects human health and
the disease process. Doctors of Chiropractic are physicians
who consider mankind as an integrated being and give
special attention to the bio mechanical, physiological
and biochemical aspects including structural, spinal,
musculoskeletal, neurological, vascular, nutritional,
emotional and environmental relationships. The practice
and procedures which may be employed by Doctors of Chiropractic
are based on the academic and clinical training received
in and through accredited chiropractic colleges. This
includes but is not limited to, the use of current diagnostic
and therapeutic procedures. Such procedures include
the use of chiropractic adjustments to fixated joints
(the ones that to you feel stiff and of which you may
or may not always try to "Crack". Modern chiropractors
also use traction tables, electrical stimulation of
muscles, hot and/or cold packs as well, these help with
pain and inflammation and are very comfortable. Chiropractic
is a drug-free, non-surgical science whose approach
to healthcare and medicine does not include the use
of pharmaceuticals or invasive surgery. If these are
needed, you will be referred to the appropriate physician
as well.
Q:
Is it safe and will it hurt?
A: Chiropractic is safe for people of all ages. Research
shows that chiropractic care is consistently among the
safest treatments available predominantly due to its
noninvasive techniques. Chiropractic treatments are
generally not painful. Some patient who are suffering
from extreme pain may experience mild discomfort, however
Dr. Kaldy's treatments are always gentle. Your tolerance
to the adjustments is tested on the first visit and
he will never force you into doing something you are
not comfortable doing. Sometimes in extreme circumstances,
an adjustment will NOT be made on the first visit, depending
on your level of pain and inflammation. You may be required
to help decrease the inflammation first or even visit
your Medical doctor for specific medications to help
lessen the inflammation and pain before the adjustment
and change can be made.
Q:
Are Chiropractors "REAL" doctors?
A: YES. When you say the term "REAL" doctors,
my guess is that you have been under the false assumption
for your entire life, that medical doctors AKA MD's
are the only doctors. Fortunately, this is not the truth.
Chiropractors like medical doctors go to school for
a very long time and study the same things. They both
attend 4 year colleges prior to going to medical or
chiropractic school. The studies are identical as can
be seen below on the chart, the only difference is,
when Medical Doctors explore deeper into medications
and surgery, chiropractors begin learning how to adjust
(manipulate) the spine and treat different disorders
that are in relation to the musculo-skeletal and nervous
system. Chiropractors are most closely related to neurologists.
The difference is, the neurologist is looking for Pathologies
related to the neurological disorder and finding appropriate
treatments, where the chiropractor is looking for spinal
dysfunction leading to further neurological disorders.
Chiropractors like medical doctors, see patients for
conditions related to health, they diagnose and treat
patients and on many occasions refer the patients to
the medical doctor for added comfort measures through
pharmaceutical support. Chiropractors do NOT prescribe
medications although they do know the different medications
and most of the interactions, they treat solely by providing
the body with the means of healing by removing nerve
interference so that the communication between the brain
and the body is restored, hence restoring the bodies
function, decreasing pain and increasing mobility.
Q:
What do Medical Doctors think of Chiropractors?
A: Most Medical Doctors work with Chiropractors in one
way or another and vise versa. Whether it is on a referral
basis or that they are actual patients of chiropractors.
Dr. Kaldy has many medical doctors from OB-GYN's to
Surgeons that are actual patients. Many of these specialists
spend many hours a day on their feet and are bent over
operating every day, this causes pain and stiffness.
Most doctors also do not take a lot of medication, because
they know that it is not good for your body to make
too many changes to the bodies chemistry and nervous
system, as this practice can cause other problems. Yes,
Medical doctors need chiropractic care as much as chiropractors
need medical care, we all have our places of need.
Q:
Who should go to a Chiropractor?
A: Any and everyone who has a spine or feels that their
health is important. We help everyone from infants to
seniors. Our care helps them reach there optimal health
with Chiropractic by making sure the most important
system in the body works properly, this being the nervous
system. Typical complaints include but is not limited
to: Neck pain, Middle and Lower back pain, migraines,
headaches, pregnancy discomfort, chronic ear infections,
menstrual problems, asthma, and allergies, stomach and
digestive problems. The goal of chiropractic is restore
body function and mobility by working with the spinal
joints to relieve nerve pressure. Removal of this pressure
and fixation of the joints removes nerve interference
which promotes natural healing by allowing the body
to mend itself and promote optimal wellness through
maximum potential.
Q:
Can chiropractic help me?
A: Chiropractic Physicians helps millions of people
worldwide alleviate a variety of problems. The spinal
column is closely related to and houses the central
nervous system, and for this reason, chiropractic can
help treat symptoms of any discomfort related to the
central nervous system. By alleviating stress on the
spinal column, health is restored. The most important
things in sustaining life are, food, water, air and
a strong nervous system. Why nervous system instead
of the heart of lungs, because without nerve impulse
from the brain down the spinal cord out the nerves to
every single portion of your body, the area of the effected
nerve including that nerve will become damaged or even
die. For example, the nerve that helps control your
hearts beating, if it becomes effected, it can lead
to different heart rhythms which can become life threatening.
The area of effected nerves where the nerve exits the
spinal column is called a subluxation.
Q:
How many treatments will it take to fix me?
A: The treatment course for each individual is different
and is dependent on many different factors. On average,
patients require 8 to 15 visits over a four to five
week period. Sometimes depending on your type of job,
and your ability to help yourself with prescribed stretching
and strengthening exercises this initial stage can even
be shorter. Once your initial discomfort has been lessened,
we encourage you to visit your chiropractor to have
the underlying problem corrected. Like visiting the
dentist, a regular chiropractic check up will help you
prevent further discomfort and complications of current
or future injuries.
Q:
Is It Affordable?
A: We firmly believe that the cost of living with nerve
interference and its resulting problems, is much greater
than the cost of chiropractic care. We also believe
that everyone should have access to this care so we
have designed our fee system so that any and everyone
can afford it if they want to. We also pride ourselves
in being the most reasonable price for chiropractic
services in the Las Vegas Valley. Please feel free to
discuss our fees at any time with Dr. Kaldy, Barbara
or Nancy, at (702) 876-3300. Sorry, but specifics are
not allowed to be given by phone as per Nevada Statutes.
Q: What types of fees and payments
do you accept?
A: Payment is expected when services are rendered unless
other arrangements have been made with the office manager.
Most health insurance is accepted, however we are not
providers on any HMO or Medicare at this point in time.
If you were involved in an automobile accident, we will
work with you and your auto insurance through your medical
payments policy if you have one, liens with attorneys
or in some special circumstances with the third party
insurance companies.
We am sorry, but we do not and will not bill your health
insurance company for automobile related injuries.
